PSYCHOTHERAPY AND COUNSELLING
Psychotherapy will further develop skills, and resources to address the emotions, situations, and relationships bringing you to therapy.
In our sessions we will identify therapeutic work and develop a treatment plan. Therapy varies according to the issues and needs brought by each client and we will identify therapy goals at our first session together.
I have experience working with a broad range of client issues. A safe therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance to me and I strive to provide people with efficient and useful therapy work as part of my commitment as a psychotherapist.

ABOUT ME
Susan Kim, MA, RP - Psychotherapy and Counselling in Ottawa
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Psychotherapists.
People can thrive when they are supported in a connected relationship. Therapy can be a difficult process at times, and it is also found to have a positive effect and benefit for those that pursue it. Working collaboratively to identify goals for therapy and establish treatment priorities is how we will begin our work together.
Research shows that we are naturally oriented toward growth and development, and we are inherently social. Within each of us are the resources and skills to develop happy and meaningful relationships, goals, and view of self. Due to negative experiences, these resources can be disrupted, or even underdeveloped. I work with clients from interpersonal, attachment, and developmental perspectives which allows us to work with present day issues, or issues from the past. The process of therapy can help clients determine skills and internal resources that will support the challenges they experience today, and shift negative effects felt from yesterday.
A safe therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance to me and I strive to provide people with efficient and useful therapy work as part of my commitment as a psychotherapist.
Some of the issues I work with are: PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Compulsive Behaviors, Sexual Trauma, Relationship and Family problems, workplace issues, career transitions.
I received my training at the University of Saint Paul, in Ottawa, with a specialization in Individual Counselling. I was an Associate Therapist and volunteered as the Administrative Director at the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma for 10 years following graduation and have worked in private practice in Ottawa since 2007. I am currently the Clinical Director and Associate Therapist at Glebe Psychotherapy.
I have trained in various therapies including EMDR, AEDP, Existential and Psychodynamic approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Sandtray Worldplay, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Experiential techniques. I pursue ongoing clinical supervision and continuing education as part of my professional development.
I offer clinical supervision and consultation to therapists working toward registration with CRPO, and students completing practicum requirements for their training programs.
